I’ve had this song for a long time. I recorded it during the Miles We Put Behind sessions, but we didn’t really hit it, so it didn’t make the cut. I’m glad I hung on to it for this record; I think the song got the production treatment it needed. It’s a scan of the boom or bust history of Alberta since the settlers arrived and a bit of a dig at Alberta’s tendency to push the “pull yourself up by your own bootstraps” narrative.
