about

Canadian singer/songwriter T. Buckley digs into his family roots to discover its the shared moments that make us who we are, on his latest Americana-tinged song "Frame by Frame."

"I started writing this tune thinking about my Grampie, Bob Buckley. He is a larger than life kind of character: a sharp wit with a great sense of humour and he has an incredible work ethic," says the multi-award winning and Canadian Folk Music Award nominated T. Buckley. "Grampie was driving me out to the airport after a few weeks out east one time, and he said to me, 'George' - he called all the boys in our family George - 'it’s all about people. You can send letters and talk on the phone, but it’ll never be the same as being together and sharing moments.' His words could never ring truer, especially after a year where we’ve all been kept apart."

With those recollections of his youth, and looking to pass on his own learnings to his young family, Buckley sings "All we have are moments, little else remains. A motion picture, always moving, frame by frame."

lyrics

Lyrics to Frame by Frame:

You’d be fumbling for your seatbelt
Flying down the road
Or shaving in the rear-view mirror
You drove that Lincoln Continental like a 944
Used it like an old John Deere
And I’d be hanging on
Wide eyed and smilin’
That country road still seems so clear

All we have are moments
Little else remains
A motion picture, always moving
Frame by frame

A lifetime of a man’s unwanted treasure
Garbage to the untrained eye
But if I had a nickel for every time you had a washer
Nuts and bolts, just the perfect size
Saving, patching, fixing things up
Lessons that are passed on down the line

All we have are moments
Little else remains
A motion picture, always moving
Frame by frame

Well I used to roll my eyes at you
Like my gal does to me
About all the things that I now emulate
How I drive like I’m still living in the country
How I use a piece of bread to clean my plate
And we’re running out of spaces to keep all of these spare parts
I’m hanging on to just in case

All we have are moments
Little else remains
A motion picture, always moving
Frame by frame
A motion picture, always moving
Frame by frame
Frame by frame
